QR Workshop & Tools
Design high-resolution static vector codes for free or deploy advanced dynamic redirects with integrated tracking analytics.
How to Generate a QR Code
Creating custom, high-resolution QR codes for print or digital media takes less than a minute. Follow these simple steps.
Select Content Type
Choose the target format: plain text, website URL, Wi-Fi credentials, customized email drafts, or vCard digital contact cards.
Input Content Payload
Type in your message or parameters. The generator automatically validates inputs (e.g., standard protocol structures for Wi-Fi and vCard protocols).
Tailor Design Options
Adjust foreground and background colors. Ensure there is a strong contrast gradient to keep codes readable under variable scans.
Download PNG or SVG
Save your QR code to your device. Choose SVG vector format for large-scale physical print or PNG for web newsletters and screen designs.
Supported QR Code Formats
Choose from a variety of data types optimized for different offline interactions.
URL Redirects
Direct users to website landing pages, registration forms, app downloads, or social media links. Best for dynamic marketing campaigns.
Wi-Fi Access
Allows clients and home guests to scan and connect instantly without typing complex alphanumeric network passwords.
vCards (Contacts)
Embeds digital contact details. Scanners can save your phone number, email, and company directly to their device address book.
Plain Text
Display product barcodes, static instruction guidelines, coupon text codes, or simple statements when decoded.
Email Triggers
Pre-configures a target recipient email address, subject line, and body content for fast support feedback inquiries.
SMS Messages
Pre-fills a phone number and message payload so users can send SMS alerts or opt-in confirmations in one tap.
Error Correction Options
We default to Level H (High - up to 30% restoration). This allows the code to scan even if it is partially torn, dirty, or obscured on physical packages.
Maintain High Contrast
Always make sure the foreground QR blocks are darker than the background canvas. Scanning devices rely on differentiating contrast nodes.
Observe Quiet Zones
Leave a clear white border (quiet zone) around the outside of the QR code. Cutting off margins will cause scanner decoders to fail.
Test Before Mass Printing
Always print a single physical prototype and scan it under low light and various phone devices. Never mass-print unverified materials.
Printing & Scanning Best Practices
To ensure your QR codes scan instantly on all mobile platforms, you should always follow print optimization standards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about static, dynamic, and custom QR codes.
Are static QR codes free to generate on QR Studio?
Yes. All static QR codes generated on QR Studio (including Text, URL, Wi-Fi, Email, and vCard codes) are 100% free, have no scan limits, never expire, and will work indefinitely. There are no registration fees or hidden subscriptions for static codes.
Do QR codes expire?
No, QR codes themselves do not expire. A static QR code embeds the information directly into the matrix, so it will always direct to that encoded value. However, if the destination URL is deleted or changed, the QR code will lead to a broken page. Dynamic QR codes do not expire as long as your redirect routing remains active on our dashboard.
What is the difference between Static and Dynamic QR codes?
Static QR codes embed content directly into the pixel matrix, meaning it is permanent and cannot be modified once generated or printed. Dynamic QR codes embed a short redirect URL, allowing you to edit the destination address at any time (even after printing) and track deep scan analytics (locations, timing, devices).
How much data can a QR code hold?
A standard QR code can store up to 7,089 numeric characters or 4,296 alphanumeric characters. However, as more data is added to a static QR code, the density of the square grid increases, making it harder for older camera sensors or low-contrast printers to scan. It is recommended to keep static content concise or use dynamic short links.
Why is my QR code not scanning?
Common reasons include: 1. Low contrast (the QR code must be significantly darker than its background). 2. Too small (should be at least 2cm x 2cm). 3. Crowded quiet zone (lack of white border spacing around the code). 4. High data density (too many pixels for the scan size). 5. Physical damage or glare on the material.
Can I customize the colors and style of my QR code?
Yes. Our generator allows you to customize the foreground and background colors. Always maintain a high contrast ratio (such as dark black/blue on a white/light background) so that camera sensors can differentiate between light and dark modules.
